Time for an update

Well, after a busy fall and winter that featured visits to the Richmond Fair (a return visit with April Wine), a few Royal Oaks, and Tucsons, and capped with a spectacular night hosting the Minto Christmas party at the Congress Centre, we elected to take January off to avoid the crappy weather.

It would be an understatement to say, boy, did we blow that call!

But we're back on the road again! We opened the 2008 schedule with visits to the Royal Oak in Hunt Club and our first trip out to our new second home in Metcalfe. We played the Metcalfe Curling Club's Friday Night Dance party, and we had a great time. And while March looks pretty quiet because of our personal schedules, the rest of the year is starting to really shape up.

We've even joined the new millenium: We're on Facebook! Just do a search for Conspiracy!, and enjoy the pictutres, recordings, and even a couple of videos posted by our friends.

Meanwhile, if all goes well, this year will feature at least two corporate events and weddings, a golf tournament, a couple of fair appearances, a few benefits (We hold a special soft spot for The Run for the Cure folks), and trips back into some of our favorite neighborhood pubs.

We're even heading back out to Luskville for the first time in a couple of years to party with the drivers on the August long weekend. those guys REALLY know what Trooper meant when they said We're here for a good time, not a long time...

So the year is shaping up, and we hope you'll join us!

August 2007

We've been really busy over the spring and summer, playing weddings, stags, golf tournaments, and of course, some of your (and our) favorite watering holes all over the Ottawa-area map. A few recent highlights include Kirk and Lulu Davies' wedding, and a very hot summer night at Tucson's. Fair season has started as well, and we just played our first one of the season at Navan. Gail and Dan were great as always (they even remembered our names, which always surprises me), and the headline attraction, April Wine put on a great rock show. It was a blast.

We've met some new friends, and got reacquianted with some old ones. We've even joined Facebook (search for Conspiracy!, or just hunt down Joe Valente and check his groups). In fact, these photos from the Navan Fair (courtesy of J Miles Photo, jim_miles_ca@yahoo.ca) are links to Facebook, if you're interested:

We've added a new player, Rob Rose, on guitar and vocals, He's an unbelieveable guitarist with chicken-picken licks 'til the cows come home and a heavy, funky musical swagger that's just a ton of fun. We brought him in to do a big, formal wedding with us, and the fit was too good not to make it a permanent arrangement.

We've also finally settled on a bass player whose schedule matches up pretty well with ours. He's another Rob, so, to differentiate between the two of them, we've bestowed the bass-Rob with an extra "b," giving us our new bass player, "Robb."

I guess that's about it for now. More news as it becomes fit to print.

March 2007:
Where oh Where Did the Time Go?

You know, it seems like only yesterday that I was writing about posting new pics from a couple of bars here in town. Since then, with several fairs, a couple of weddings, some holiday outdoor headline gigs, corporate Christmas parties, and countless great bar appearances, I suddenly realize it's been two years since I added anything to our News page.

Absolutely unbelievable! So let me start the news page fresh and catch you all up.

Well, it's been a heck of a ride, as we transitioned from our caterpiller existance as a bar band, to our butterfly stage, playing more fairs, corporate events, weddings, and private parties than ever. Vocals and harmonies keep getting stronger under Marleen's watchful eye (or, more accurately, ear!), and the band gets tighter and bigger-sounding as Joe and the boys build the synergy that only seasoned musicians seem to be able to build. It all just keep getting better, and we continue to attract attention from local promoters and event planners.

We just love it, I have to say.

And we've made some great friends along the way, too. When I think about the musicians we've opened for, like Tom Wilson (of Junkhouse and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings fame) and Johnny Dee and Honeymoon Suite (Johnny's a guy who REALLY gets it, a really great guy!), and the friends we've we've met along the way, we've been fortunate enough to meet some really class acts.

And of course there's all the new friends we've made, the old friends who have stayed with us along the road, and the friends we've yet to meet.

All in all, it's been a crazy -- and fun -- two years.

So now you're up to date. Let's just hope it doesn't take me another two years to post to this page!

Joe
